Which book would actually help you?

Most reading lists hand everyone the same ten books. This one asks how your days actually go, then points you at the shelf written for your pattern.

Breathing and books

Breathing settles the body in the moment. A book changes the mind that keeps sounding the alarm. Together they break the pattern.

  • Ten minutes of reading a night outlasts an hour of willpower

  • A shelf chosen for your pattern, not the same list everyone gets

This is a self-check, not a diagnosis. It cannot see you, and it is not medical or psychological advice — it is a way of choosing a book that is likely to be worth your time.

Common questions

Is this an anxiety test or a diagnosis?

Neither. It is a self-check designed to choose a useful book. It uses no clinical instrument and produces no diagnosis — if you want one, that is a conversation with a doctor or therapist.

Why does it ask about plans and evenings instead of asking about anxiety?

Because the most useful patterns are the ones people cannot easily report about themselves. Almost nobody answers ‘are you controlling?’ accurately, but almost everyone can say what happens when a plan falls through. Behaviour in ordinary moments is a better signal than self-description.

How are the books chosen?

Each pattern has a shelf of five well-established books, ordered from the most approachable to the most demanding. There are no affiliate links, no sponsorship and nothing for sale — only titles and authors, so you can find them wherever you read.

Is my result stored anywhere?

Only in your own browser, so it is still there on your next visit. Nothing is sent to us, there is no account and no server-side record. Clearing your browser data removes it.

Should I take the short check or the full one?

The short one is seven questions and gets close. The full one is twelve and separates patterns that overlap — particularly control, old family habits and burnout, which look alike from the outside. If your result feels almost right, take the full one.
